Word to Your Mother is the sophisticated mom’s resource to the latest in parenting, health, fitness, and weight loss, shared with passion, wit and Southern style.
If this is your first time here and I’m guessing it is otherwise why would you be on a Start Here page?! Please allow me to fill you in on what this site is all about!
My name is Heather, and I help parents of special needs kids find simple solutions to stresses and overwhelmingly complicated life situations.
And, I help moms lose weight by providing healthy recipes and weight loss tips!
If you’re the mom of a child with autism or SPD, and you’re not interested in drawn-out medical jargon or an angry rant, or sad story well, I understand. I know you want answers. How can you handle behavioral issues? What types of activities can you do to benefit your child? What kinds of therapy will benefit your child? What can you do to get your child to stop smearing his poop all over the walls? I can help ya with that. My son is six, and he has autism, so I know a good bit of information through experience, but I also work with a team of experts from Speech Pathologists to Applied Behavioral Therapists.
So how do I help you with weight loss?
Here’s the thing. I’ve actually lost weight. A lot of it. Eighty pounds to be exact. So when I tell you my good ole fashioned tips & tricks to drop the lbs-I didn’t google them or grab them off Wikipedia. I’ve used them so you can be sure they work. I’m not about gimmicks or fads.
I actually enjoy finding and sharing healthy recipes. Do you plan dinner every night? Me either. It’s a hot-button issue here since my family always wants to eat, but hey-80% of women don’t even think about dinner until 4 pm, and then we freak out! I share easy healthy recipes that taste good. So even if you didn’t plan dinner until 5 everybody eats! Everyone is happy-until they start arguing about something else!
Now and then I’ll write about a fabulous cleaning hack I’ve found-emphasis on the hack. See, I don’t find joy in dusting and mopping, and if you do, then this may not be your kind of space. But if you love a shortcut-I’m you’re girl.
You also won’t find ways to cut your budget or balance your checkbook here or repave your driveway. That’s not my forte.
Here’s what you will find on Word to Your Mother:
Autism & Special Needs
Motherhood is hard y’all. We put too much pressure on ourselves, and then we end up taking out on the ones we love the most. This site is about making life a little easier. For all moms, really. But especially for those of us who have kids with special needs, or who want to lose a few pounds, or who want to be healthier! Taking that extra stress off of ourselves translates into a happier family. I know because I’ve lived it. I can help you live it, too.
