What’s for dinner?
Seriously, I hate hearing that question more than I hate hearing someone chew their food.
If you’ve thought you are the only one who dreads that 3-word phrase that can bring a mom down faster than pepper spray-I want you to know, you’re not alone.
That simple question is impacting moms from all walks of life inside and outside the home. It doesn’t matter what you’ve been doing all day…You could be a rocket scientist or a brain surgeon, or in my case, be suffering from a case of pneumonia so severe it required five overnights in the hospital.
My family still asked me what was for dinner every night.
So, yeah. No matter what the circumstances are, Moms, it appears as though we’re the family meal coordinators, for-evah.
Because, family dinners are a big deal.
Kids who eat dinner with their family five nights a week perform better in school. They have higher self-esteem and are less likely to smoke, drink or abuse drugs. Eating family dinner helps your kid avoid eating disorders, and some studies show it may help them react better to cyber bullies. JAMA PEDIATRICS SEPT 1
If you’re like me, it’s not the cooking that stresses you out; it’s the planning.
When I’ve taken the time to organize a list and planned our family dinners for the week, I feel so much better. Knowing I have healthy meals ready to go eases my mind and helps me focus more and stress less.
Do you want to know the secret to getting it done without losing your mind?
Meal planning. Mic drop.
I don’t have a mic, but I do have a meal planning guru. Her name is Erin Chase, and she helps moms plan meals. You may have seen her on Good Morning America or NBC’s Today Show.
She’s super cool. Here’s a link to her free workshop where she’ll show you how to prep healthy meals to store in the freezer without spending all day doing it.
She will teach you how to make 10 meals in less than an hour.
